Trust the people: this was the slogan used by the Bush Campaign throughout the post-election Coup de Tat. They did not want to trust the local election boards to exercise their authority, following the Law for Manual Counts of Votes as described by the Florida Legislature "Intent of the Voter". Instead, the just took all of the issues to a Federal Appeals Court and ultimately the U.S. Supreme Court. They said that we should obey the rule of law and the "discretion" of the Florida Secretary of State to cut off the election before all the votes were counted; but were not willing to allow the discretion of the county election canvassing boards.
These same republicans were willing to spend millions of our tax dollars and weeks (months) of patience to perform their man-hunt against the personal indiscretions of President Clinton. DNA evidence was brought into play, numerous witnesses were called, other evidence was examined. Nothing was unimportant enough to be overlooked. But; when it comes to an election (which they knew they lost) they are willing to circumvent the laws, run out the clock, play with people's fears that the military would somehow become so angry that they might have taken over the country.

James Baker (acting as a bullhorn for GW Bush and his cronies) advocated that getting a Republican into the presidential office is so important that we should jeopardize our country's political system in the process. Calling the Supreme Court of Florida a court of Democrats. Such disrespect for a state Supreme Court cannot be allowed in this country. Additionally; they attempted to incite anger and disloyalty among the military. I'm very surprised that we did not wake up one morning during the post-election scandal and see tanks on every street corner. I must admit; I would have welcomed it. Sometimes we have to be willing to fight the fight against tyrants, pirates of democracy. I was surprised that we didn't see beady-eyed Bush, Schwarzkopf and Powell organize a military coup in order to take over the country. When will the normal citizens of our country wake up? They have been brain-washed by these arrogant, self-centered, rich multimillionaires who only care about getting even richer.

Bush was not willing to accept the decisions of the Supreme Court of Florida; but if he takes office (God help us); he is looking forward right now to the opportunities of appointing some right radical Republican "justices" to warp our country's values even more that they already have been in the past Republican administrations. WRITE ME E-MAIL !!! I want to make this site into something which will meet up to the incredible historical significence of this event and these times.
